Paragon Engineering Corporation provided mechanical and electrical consulting engineering services for the 128,000 square foot building. The facility included production and warehouse areas, labs and offices. The facility is heated, cooled, humidified and dehumidified by central station air handling units utilizing chilled water for cooling, steam for outside air preheating and humidification, and hot water for heating. Central exhaust systems were installed with a heat recovery run-around-loop to the production and warehouse air handling units allowing the outside air entering the units to be preheated or precooled depending on the season. A process water loop was installed providing cooling water to production equipment. Constant volume and variable volume air distribution and exhaust syst ems were utilized. Hot water perimeter radiation was provided in the office area to offset window downdraft. The HVAC systems are controlled via a direct digital control system. Compressed air, vacuum and gas piping were provided in the labs, production and warehouse areas. A snow melting system was installed under the sidewalks.
