Paragon Engineering Corporation provided complete mechanical and electrical engineering design and construction administration services for the project as a consultant to the Architect. Design of HVAC, plumbing, fire protection and electrical systems was included.
The new 23,420 square-foot performing arts facility will include a 470-seat theater and will be constructed adjacent to the Beekley Library. The Operations Department and maintenance garages have been relocated to a new building on the southeast side of campus behind the running track.
The HVAC system is an energy conscious system that uses variable air volume, refrigerant hot gas reheat, and CO2 control to maintain comfort conditions in theater space. The design also employs noise and vibration control methods to assure quiet in the auditorium. Excess existing capacity from the school’s hot water heating plant was used to heat the building.
